PANDEMONIUM TYPE
We are an independent studio specializing in custom typefaces for brands that see typography as a fundamental element of their visual expression. Driven by a belief in the intersection of research, experimentation, and technical precision.
Each project begins with manual drawing, the starting point for a process of exploration that unfolds into unique typefaces capable of expressing both personality and consistency across all brand touchpoints. Beyond commissioned projects, we develop research, retail typefaces, and experimental works that explore the intersections between language, technology, and expression.
For us, type design is above all a field of invention and sensitivity, where the form of each letter reflects culture, behavior, and values.
Leopoldo Leal is a type designer, founder of Pandemonium Type, and professor of Type Design and Visual Identity. He holds a PhD in Design from FAUUSP. Specialist in Type Design through Type West, the Plantin Institute of Typography, and in Communication and Arts from Senac.
Author of Processo de criação em Design Gráfico: Pandemonium, finalist for the 2021 Jabuti Award and based on his PhD dissertation, which received first place at Museu da Casa Brasileira (2019), Type Directors Club (2020), Brasil Design Award (2020), and LAD Awards (2021).
With over 20 years of experience, he has worked with several renowned agencies, including Landor, Pharus Design, Interbrand, FutureBrand, and GAD’Branding.
